ACT Commodities

Who is ACT?

Since 2009, ACT Commodities has been helping businesses around the world buy and sell environmental commodities for compliance and voluntary purposes.

ACT is headquartered in Amsterdam, Netherlands with offices in New York and China. From these three locations ACT serves more than 5,000 customers all over the world, helping companies achieve environmental compliance and meet voluntary environmental goals.

Why sponsor the event?

ACT Commodities wants to be part and effectively add value to the Bonsucro journey towards more responsible produced sugarcane. Our unique experience and proven success in similar markets covering both agriculture, energy and the carbon sector has clearly shown that we can create a win–win situation between both producers as buyers, who wants to support certified production in a direct way thanks to the Bonsucro Credit Trading System.

ACT and Bonsucro Credits

Bonsucro’s Credit Trading System is an opportunity for companies to meet their sustainable sourcing goals, support certified Bonsucro mills and invest in continuous improvement to address key issues. Bonsucro members can buy Bonsucro Credits, and then make a public claims.

ACT Commodities is making this system even easier and more impactful through supporting and promoting true collaboration between certified producers end interested buyers. ACT Commodities has worked in a similar manner with other sustainability standards to increase credit trades and deliver impact. ACT developed its unique way of approaching credit schemes by, for example, supporting and developing the Round Table for Responsible Soy (RTRS).

How can ACT help?

ACT facilitates Bonsucro Credit purchases between certified sugarcane mills and corporate companies, creating value through simplicity for all parties involved, helping them with their strategy, executing, marketing and translating the impact of their action from the producer to the end customer.
If you’re interested in purchasing Bonsucro Credits, you can get in touch with ACT’s Jorn Schouten at JSchouten@actcommodities.com

Bag Sponsor: TRR / SADA

The Thai Roong Ruang Group of Companies (TRR Group) has started the sugar business since the end of the Second World War. During that period, Thailand was confronting with a sugar shortage crisis, and thereby the private sector was encouraged by the Government to set up sugar factories in order to tackle the crisis. Due to the high costs of imported machinery and equipment, Mr. Suree Asadathorn, locally known as “Thao Kae Lin” and externally  named as “Thailand’s King of Sugar”, successfully invented the equipment for sugar production by his own knowledge and skills in steel lathing without the need to import any machinery and equipment from abroad. With his patience and perseverance, the first sugar factory, called Ruam Kam Larp Sugar Factory (i.e. Ruam Kam Larp Co., LTD.) was successfully founded on 7 May 1946, located at soi Prompong, beside Saen Saeb canal in Bangkok. This sugar factory is widely acknowledged as the first private-owned sugar factory in Thailand.

Over the past 70 years, the TRR Group has continually engaged in various business activities, including research, invention, modification and improvement for the better efficiency of machinery and equipment in our production process, and thereby the better sugar quality for our customers. Nowadays, the TRR Group is known as the leading sugar manufacturer and exporter of Thailand. The TRR Group has also expanded our core business to other related business areas, which include the ethanol business, the biomass power business, the machinery business, the river wharf and warehouse business.

With the TRR Group’s strict quality control and the ongoing commitment to creatively learn and technologically develop for its continuous product quality, our sugar business has grown family and consistently. TRR Group have been widely recognized as the leader in sugar industry and gained trust from both domestic and international customers and traders.
